Join Our Leadership Team!

KidBright USA is looking for passionate, energetic changemakers to join its Leadership Team!

Leadership positions are part-time, volunteer opportunities requiring 10 hours a week to helping our nonprofit grow and all children in Durham Public Schools thrive. Current Open Positions

Director of Volunteer Services (local)

The Director of Volunteer Services will build and coordinate our growing volunteer network of parents and community members.

  • Reach out to school administrators and teachers to recruit volunteers
  • Ensure the volunteer schedule is complete well in advance of pickup/delivery dates
  • Address any questions or issues that volunteers might have by email
  • Conduct quarterly surveys of volunteers, analyze results and help address concerns
  • Available to respond to the occasional text message or call during the weekend when volunteers’ are picking up snacks

Director of Community Outreach (local)

The Director of Community Outreach will build and sustain our relationship with local businesses, government leaders, community members, and partner organizations.

  • Attend events to build relationships and build awareness about food insecurity and KidBright USA
  • Stay in touch with important contacts via email, phone, and in-person meetings
  • Collaborate with our Marketing Director and Social Media Specialist to coordinate social media and marketing initiatives
  • Coordinate our KidBright Ambassador program for tabling at events and festivals

Grant Specialist (local or remote)

The Grant Specialist will collaborate with the President to identify and draft grant proposals to secure funding from government agencies and foundations.

  • Identify grant opportunities using Grants.gov and other sources
  • Develop relationships with managers at agencies and foundations to understand proposal requirements and expectations
  • Draft grant proposals, including grant text, budgets, bios, and other essential materials

Social Media Specialist (local or remote)

The Social Media Specialist will help us build and execute a social media strategy, initially on Facebook, but over time expand to additional platforms.

  • Perform research on audience preferences
  • Assess and adopt best practices
  • Post relevant and engaging content 1-2 times a week to Facebook
  • Track performance of posts against objectives
